National Citizen Service (NCS)
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a government funded initiative that brings young people from different backgrounds together to offer new experiences, providing them with the chance to discover their talents and realise their potential. The programme has grown year on year with over 100,000 NCS graduates across the UK having completed the programme.
The NCS programme enables young people to make a difference and contribute to their local communities. It is designed to be fun, but also to equip students with evidence of personal achievement and life skills. This is facilitated, with the support of knowledgeable, enthused staff, supporting the young people to build and deliver a social action project that makes a real difference to the community organisations within their local area.
The NCS programme, and in particular the skills and experiences gained by NCS graduates, is now widely recognised positively by employers and educational institutions alike, helping students to gain employment and expand on their experiences through UCAS applications.
YMCA Worcestershire are proud to be delivering the programme for the first time this year.
