Real Communities – YMCA Sports Day.

The YMCAlympics were back this year, and what a day it was. Despite the grey clouds and constant threat of rain, staff and residents came together at Abbey Stadium for our annual sports day, and it was full of fun and plenty of healthy competition.

The programme, organised by Dave Knatt, had something for everyone. Competitors tested themselves in the high jump and long jump, showed off their strength in the shot put, and took to the field for some frisbee.

Highlights include would be the relay race and our classic Boys vs Girls races, which brought out everyone’s competitive side. Whether people were chasing a personal best or just joining in for fun, everyone got involved. There was plenty of cheering from the sidelines and lots of encouragement for every competitor. Even our CEO got stuck in! The day ended with medals and a garden gathering so bragging rights could be exchanged!

A huge thank you to Abbey Stadium for hosting us again this year. Their support makes days like this possible, and we’re very grateful. The YMCAlympics show what our community is all about: people coming together, backing each other and having a great time along the way. Roll on next year! (Once our legs have recovered!)
