Residents and staff recently swapped dry land for the water as they embarked on an unforgettable canoeing adventure along the River Severn, travelling an impressive 12 miles from Bridgnorth to Arley.
The day was filled with laughter, teamwork and plenty of memorable moments as the group navigated the twists and turns of the river. While some canoeists demonstrated impressive paddling skills, others found themselves negotiating a few unexpected encounters with overhanging bushes. There were also some heroic efforts to battle against the current, while a handful of participants decided that ditching the canoe and floating downstream was a perfectly acceptable approach to the challenge!
One of the highlights of the trip came in the form of a surprise encounter with horses cooling off in the river. The curious visitors certainly made an impression, with some stopping by for a closer inspection of the group’s supplies. More than just a day out, the canoe trip provided an opportunity for residents to have a good old laugh and enjoy the great outdoors alongside staff and peers. It was a fantastic way to stay active, keep cool during the heat and create memories that will last long after the paddles have been packed away.
A huge thank you to the Housing & Support team for continuously ‘pushing the boat out’ when it comes to exciting activities!
