We currently have over 50 active volunteers who give their time to us on various projects throughout the organisation.
Volunteering can work in any way to suit both you and us, depending on the time you have available. Whether it’s an hour a month you’d like to give or over 30 hours a week, we almost definitely have a voluntary opportunity to suit you. We are looking for volunteers from all sections of the community and of all ages. A criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to working with us. Everyone is treated as an individual and each case is looked at separately.
Here are some of the opportunities available with us currently:
We always ask our volunteers why they have chosen to volunteer with us. Here’s what some of them have told us:
“I lived at the YMCA myself and wanted to give something back to the people who helped me when I was at my lowest point. I want to show that anything is possible with the right direction!”
“I want to give something back to my community and help others to live an independent life,”
“I want to help people in need,”
“I want to gain experience as part of my Youth and Community degree,”
“I want more experience in the homeless sector so I can change my job,”
“Probation have suggested that volunteering would be good for me and I would like to work on an allotment, which I’ve heard you have at the YMCA,”
“I want to gain a better understanding of social work,”
“I am retired and would like to use my time meaningfully,”
“I’m at college part time and I’d like to be doing something useful the rest of the time,”
“I want to see if this is an area I would like to work in full time,”
If you would like to volunteer with us, keep an eye on our Volunteering Facebook page (search Jemma YMCA Worcestershire Volunteering and add us as a friend), which is updated regularly with news of volunteering opportunities throughout Worcestershire YMCA.
To register your interest, please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator (TBC), who will make contact with you and ask you to complete an application pack. We will then invite you in for an informal chat and to have a look around.
