15 June 2025

On Sunday 15th June, the sun shone down on an unforgettable day of fun, community, and determination at our YMCA Race for Change event in Redditch.

Runners of all ages and backgrounds came together—residents, staff, and members of the public alike—united by one goal: to make a difference. From first-timers to seasoned athletes, every step taken was a powerful stride toward change. James, from Housing and Support, was the first from Team YMCA to cross the finish line—making it look easy! Young Eddie & Michael, our junior runners, extended their run from 1K to 5K, for fun, and smashed it!

For many, the run was a real challenge, but seeing everyone push themselves was truly inspiring.

This day was about more than just running—it was a celebration of community. Staff from Squirrels Nursery added sparkle with glitter tattoos, while the Youth Team brought the energy. Owen from Youth lent his small business, KANDY KID Entertainment, to the cause—treating us to carnival games, sweet treats, and brilliant tunes.

Michelle from Housing hosted a fantastic tombola, and Emily from HR braved the heat in full Sonic the Hedgehog costume—hugely popular with kids and adults alike!

This event didn’t just raise funds—it raised awareness of who we are and what we do. It was a proud celebration of YMCA Worcestershire, full of spirit and connection.

More than a race, the YMCA Race for Change was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.
