This month we celebrate Ash Lowe, who has recently stepped up into the Youth & Communities Manager role

“I joined YMCA Worcestershire in the summer of 2021 on a temporary contract… one that I’ve somehow never managed to escape! I started as a Team Leader on the NCS programme, then progressed to NCS Engagement Officer, where I recruited young people for our programmes and led unforgettable (for many reasons) residentials. I also supported the youth team as a Youth Worker, later took on the role of Coordinator, and
am soon to become the Manager of the Youth Engagement Team. I started here because I’ve always been passionate about working with young people and making a positive impact. This role has given me the opportunity to do just that, while also creating unforgettable experiences. From sleepless residentials and countless social action projects to youth clubs that have made a real difference in communities, I’ve had the privilege of seeing young people access opportunities they might not have otherwise had. One of my biggest highlights has been helping to grow the service and build the youth team into what it is today. Throughout most of my journey, I’ve worked alongside Mike—we balance each other’s crazy ideas (though let’s be honest, I’m always right). At the heart of it all, I aim to be the person I needed growing up—offering support, safety, and perseverance. I’m grateful to those who believed in me, and I’m excited to keep growing and strengthening the
services we provide to young people in Worcestershire.”
