This month, we celebrate Mike. His passion and commitment to our YMCA is inspiring and we’re so thankful to have him with us!
He says –
“I first joined YMCA Worcestershire in December 2019 as an Assistant NCS Programme Coordinator, simply looking to support young people and gain experience in the sector. What I found was so much more: a career I love, a team that feels like family, and a purpose I believe in. Since then, I’ve stepped into roles like NCS Coordinator and Youth and Communities Manager, leading everything from residentials and HAF programmes to mentoring projects and CCE awareness sessions. I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of young people across Worcestershire – helping them build confidence, develop skills, and realise their potential. Now, stepping into the Business Development Manager role, my focus has shifted slightly – but the passion and purpose remain the same. My job now is to look at the bigger picture: identifying funding opportunities that help us secure and grow our services, building partnerships, and ensuring we have the resources to continue making a difference. I see this role as not just about money, but about building a stronger, more sustainable future for the organisation – one where we can support even more young people in more communities, in more meaningful ways.
It’s been a journey full of growth, learning, and plenty of laughs – alongside a few challenges. I’ve been lucky to work with incredible colleagues and inspiring young people, and I’m proud to give back to the communities we serve.
Here’s to the next chapter – and all that’s still to come.”
