I started at YMCA Worcestershire on 2nd May 2000 as a cleaner in Knowle Close communal areas. I did this for 13 years and, thanks to my ‘work mommy’ Jackie (Becky Fox’ mom – who still gives so much support now even since retiring) I was persuaded to go for a job that came up on Reception at Gordon Anstis House. I went for it and started working there for 2 days a week and did the other 3 days cleaning. I loved it and ended up doing more and more until a job in finance came up and eventually I went to work there full time. I have certainly been supported by many people along my journey here and I’ve had lots of different managers along the way. There have been a lot of ups and downs. I’ve seen good friends leave and move on, but some have even come back! They say once the YMCA is in your blood it’s there forever! I even get to work at the same place as my amazing husband Roy every day. I get asked all the time if we met at work and the answer is no, and I’m proud to say we have been married for 29 years. One thing I particularly love about working here is seeing Roy visiting our nursery children as Santa – I go along with him every year and seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces makes me so proud.

Here’s to the next 25 years working in the brilliant finance team the three of us make!”
