Sue began volunteering at YMCA Redditch in 1982, contributing to various roles such as play-scheme, youth club, parent and toddlers group, after-school club, and preparing meals for the elderly every Friday. After 38 years she transitioned to a paid role, initially in the pre-school nursery and later as a cleaner for GAH and the flats during the day. In the evenings, she worked as a support worker and receptionist in housing. In 2020, she proudly established and continues to work at Willow Trees community centre. Often referred to as the “mother of the YMCA,” Sue is a wealth of knowledge, serving as a familiar presence with the distinctive jangle of her keys. Her dedication to the YMCA has been invaluable, and we are truly grateful for her many hours of service.
“I love my job, and all the people I work with!”
