On 14th August, staff and residents came together for an exciting day at Abbey Stadium, Redditch for the YMCAlympics. The event was a resounding success, filled with friendly competition, laughter, and the spirit of community.
Participants had the chance to showcase their athletic abilities in a variety of events, including shot put, javelin, discus, races, and relays. The day wouldn’t have been complete without a spirited game of football, which saw everyone cheering from the side lines (as well as a few grumpy faces in the penalty shoot out!)
The turnout was fantastic, with both staff and residents enjoying the chance to connect outside of their usual routines. The sun shone brightly, adding to the cheerful atmosphere and making the day even more enjoyable. It was a wonderful opportunity for residents to bond and for staff to engage in some light-hearted competition.
The day was topped off with a celebratory BBQ and medal ceremony at Gordon Anstis House, where participants were recognised for their efforts and everyone enjoyed delicious food and great company. It was the perfect end to a memorable day.
The success of the YMCAlympics has sparked excitement for future events. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this day memorable. We look forward to many more events like this in the future!
