“Hi, I’m Matt and I am based in Worcester, working in the maintenance department across numerous properties. I have been with the YMCA for 17 years, and during these years I have seen many changes as the charity has changed direction and evolved.
The one constant is that each day is varied, with the jobs required and the interactions held with residents; this keeps me busy!
A fond memory takes me back to when the YMCA was at Henwick Road. The community feel was diverse with staff and residents being together and having an acceptance to the different story each person had to tell. Coming together from different paths of life on different journeys, whether that be in the cottage, house or foyer. These values still exist today which is why I enjoy the role. Fundamental principles of community, equality and diversity are promoted and celebrated.”
